Milescross Lady From Shangai

Milescross Lady From Shanghai - "Spree"
(Ch. Broadstrider's By George, ROMX X Locar's Creme De Cocao)
4/6/1993 - 9/2006
Owned by Dan & Leslie Silva (Elandan) & Guin Borstel
Spree was one of the Chippettes from the first Milescross litter. She greatly resembled her sire, having his same black brindle coloration along with his pretty white neck. Spree had a great early career in the show ring, winning several points and sweepstakes classes, but this was halted when she shattered her humerus while running in the fields with her sister Lina. She endured several operations, was pinned and plated, but she tolerated all of this with stoic optimism.

Spree w/ daughter Twinkle
Spree was bred to Ch. Locar's Bacarrat and was the dam of Renee Clayton's Group-winning Ch. Milescross Elandan Starlight. Through Twinkle, she is prominent in Claymar and related pedigrees up in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Spree only had this one litter, since even though her girl puppies were lovely, her boys lacked equipment (and they were lovely too! Darn!).
Spree lived her life with Dan & Leslie, as queen of the pack and head watch dog and plate washer. She was a tough little whippet who never forgot a friend and enjoyed visiting with those close to her well into her old age. Other than her horrible injury, she was never sick a day in her life.
I will always remember our 'little Starling" and I am thankful her legacy lives on in Renee's hounds.
